There is no easy quick way to dismantle a huge crane.
But what on earth are officials thinking in deciding that daytime Saturday is a good time for it to happen on one of Auckland city’s most busiest stretches of road?
This operation has been going on all day from Saturday morning in Hobson Street, leading to the southern and north-western motorway entrances, reducing traffic to one lane and adding to the frustrating road works that seem to be happening all over the city.
Because of the size of the crane and the public safety isses, half the road at least has been blocked off.
Could it not have been attempted from early Sunday morning when traffic was lighter?
I assume it’s Auckland City that grants permission.
I’m not sure they got it right this time, watching the chaos, including the lack of warning signs ahead.
